MAN OF STEEL REVIEW

i will open this with saying one thing......AMAZING.
man of steel has got to be the best interpretation of superman in movie form that has ever come out. with the special effects possible now days they are able to produce things that the previous movies could not. i did semi-enjoy Superman Returns with Brandon Roth, but i believe the mistake they made with that movie was they used it as a sequel to Superman 2 with Christopher Reeves, instead of making it its own movie restarting the Superman franchise.
special effects aside i was very pleased with the way Henry Cavill portrayed Superman, we really didn't see him as the geeky Clark Kent. but im sure he will do well with that as well.
Amy Adams as Lois Lane was a very well picked choice. i love her in other movies she has been in. i was very pleased that they made her a strong female character and not some whiny "girl in trouble". she was portrayed as a cunning, smart, journalist with a sense of who Lois Lane is and played it very well.
Michael Shannon plays General Zod was mesmerizing. his portrayal of Zod as a cold, calculating General in the Kryptonian armed forces was on point. the passion of his goals was shown through every word and every action. he was ruthless, and that's critical in being a villain. but not only was he that way, you could also see his point of view because that's what he was genetically made for. i see Zod as a kinda Magneto type villain, where you question if he is really that wrong in what he does, or is his point of view right.
Russell Crowe portrays Superman's father, Jor-El. its a complete opposite from the way Jor-El was portrayed in the other Superman movies. to say the least, Jor-El is a bad ass. from him saving his only son of krypton's destruction to helping Clark later in the movie, i thought Crowe put passion, and heart into a person who only wanted to save his people from a destruction that was inevitable. Jor-El is the flip side of Zod. they are much like the yin and yang. both wanting the same thing, both wanting their people to strive, just both with different views on how that would happen.
Kevin Costner was a quiet man that said few words but what he did say was very important. Clark's human father was how i thought a farmer from Kansas would act, quiet, reserved, and wise. i thought his character was much like Ben Parker from Spider Man.
Diane Lane was a very good Martha Kent. you could see the kindness in her face, and feel the thoughtlessness of a simple Kansas woman who took in a strange boy form outer space and raises him to be the kind and just person he grows up to be. in the scenes with just Diane Lane and Henry Cavill there is a chemistry, a feeling that they are mother and son.
Christopher Meloni, Laurence Fishburne, and Antje Traue make up some of the supporting cast. Fishburne as Perry White was sense-able and interesting to put such a big star in such a small role. Antje Traue i had to look on IMDB to see what else she had been in. Pandorum was the only one i recognized. do not let her no name status fool you. as Zod's right hand (wo)man she is just as ruthless and cunning as Zod himself. the fight scenes in downtown Smallville were spectacular and visually stunning.
There are a few things in the movie i have heard friends and other people complain about. like how there is no Jimmy Olsen working at the Daily Planet, or that Superman's costume is the wrong colors. i never cared for Jimmy Olsen so i didn't miss him. i think he adds a bit of campy to the storyline and i would rather have it more of a serious take on Superman than be a campy mess of one. as for the costume. i think its a fresh modern approach to his outfit. i liked how it was tied into all the Kryptonian clothing and that it was part of his heritage. i like the muted colors over the bright blue and red of the "normal" Superman costumes. i absolutely love the new symbol, the new modern stylizing of it works very well to take superman and bring him into this day and age. Modern, bold and functional is how i would describe his costume.
in closing this review all ill say is go see it for yourself. sure you can listen to critics, or you can listen to your friends but until you experience it for yourself you will never know if you love it or hate it. my only advice is to not bother with the costly 3D, it really didn't ad much to the movie experience. Save your cash and see it in 2D.

AMAZING SPIDER MAN 2

it looks like there will be two villains in the next spider man movie...electro and rhino. did marvel not learn from the other spider man movies that when you have two many villains and to many story lines the movie gets to be a jumbled mess, do i have to bring up spider man 3, sandman, venom, and hobgoblin, and we all know how that turned out.......BAD.
now i hear that Jamie fox is going to be electro and that Paul Giamotti is playing the rhino. both great actors and i'm sure they will do a fantastic job. i also read on yahoo that the electro in the movie is based on the electro in the ultimate universe. i'm actually not up to speed on spider man comics to know the difference  i do know that i have seem pics of Jamie fox as electro and hes blue metallic and has some weird contacts in. i like that fact that the amazing spider man movies are not using the big named villains  i mean the first movie was the lizard, very b villain, and now there is electro and the rhino. i love the fact that they have not even mentioned the green goblin which we all know is peter parkers greatest enemy. they have mentioned Norman Osborn in the first movie and that he was on the verge of death, and i did go on IMDb last night to look at the cast and he is cast in number 2 played by Chris cooper.
i also saw that the role of Mary Jane had been cast.i had never heard of the actress but she looks like Mary Jane from the comic book. there were also spoiler pics that show Emma Stone in the same outfit that Gwen Stacy is wearing in the comic book when she is killed by none other than the green goblin. now is this a prelude to seeing the green goblin on the big screen. i would hope they would leave it towards the end of the movie to set up for amazing spider man 3, because we all know there is going to be a number 3. ultimately id love to see amazing spider man to go as a 6 movie arc with all the same people playing the characters  i don't see how if harry potter can pull off 8 movies with the same people why marvel cant do the same with their movies. there are so many spider man villains that it would and could go on for 6 movies, but that is just this geeks dream.
check out the pics for yourself but the out fit does look the same. i will be sad to see Emma Stone leave the franchise cause i do love her but we all know how the story goes. Mary Jane Watson is Peter Parkers true love tiger.

XMEN #1 ....SPICE GIRLS OF THE MARVEL UNIVERSE

Because you demanded it! The X-Women finally get their own book, from critically acclaimed superstars Brian Wood (X-MEN, ULTIMATE X-MEN, DMZ, The Massive) and Olivier Coipel (AVX, HOUSE OF M, THOR)...

this was a well played story beginning. its got me hooked and im ready for the second issue. im glad to see jubilee back in the x books, although i don't know if shes a vampire still or is she human or is she a mutant? questions questions questions. i like that it is an all girl cast, but uncanny X force is pretty much an all girl cast except for small powerhouse Puck from the Canadian Alpha Flight team. I am kinda an intrigued by the short little guy and his back story, i really never followed Alpha Flight, even though it did have the first gay super hero (Northstar)in the marvel universe.the book features Sublime as part of the main story and that is another person i don't know to much about, it will be fun to learn more about this super villain.

CATWOMAN MOVIE

WITH AS POPULAR AS CATWOMAN IS, WHY HAVE WE NOT SEEN A CATWOMAN MOVIE? I KNOW THERE WAS THAT HORRIBLE THING THEY CALLED CATWOMAN WITH HALLE BERRY, BUT I LIKE TO PRETEND THAT DOES NOT EXIST. FIRST OFF IN THAT MOVIE HALLE BERRY ISN'T EVEN SELINA KYLE.... I REMEMBER WHEN BATMAN RETURNS CAME OUT WITH MICHELLE PFEIFFER, WHICH IS MY FAVORITE VERSION OF CATWOMAN IN FILM AND TV, THAT THERE WAS RUMORS THAT TIM BURTON WAS GOING TO DO A JUST CATWOMAN MOVIE BECAUSE AT THE END SHE SURVIVES THE CLIMAX OF THE MOVIE. I KNOW THAT ANNE HATHAWAY WAS CATWOMAN IN THE DARK KNIGHT RISES BUT I THOUGHT SHE WAS VERY UNDERPLAYED AND NOT MUCH SCREEN TIME AS CATWOMAN IT WAS MORE SELINA KYLE. DONT GET ME WRONG I LOVE ANNE AS AN ACTRESS, SHES ONE OF MY FAVORITES. I GUESS I WAS JUST EXPECTING MORE.

CATWOMAN BIO:
She's made countless comic book appearances since her debut in 1940's BATMAN #1. She's been portrayed by two Oscar-nominated actresses—Michelle Pfeiffer in Tim Burton's classic film "Batman Returns" and Anne Hathaway in director Christopher Nolan's critically acclaimed blockbuster "The Dark Knight Rises." And she's been featured in almost every Batman-related animated or video game incarnation.
Indeed, Selina Kyle has led many lives as the feline fatale Catwoman—but one thing remains the same: Whenever this cat crosses your path, she's equally likely to steal your heart as well as your wallet.
Growing up an orphan in one of Gotham’s worst neighborhoods, Selina turned to a life of crime to not only keep herself alive but her friends as well. The vivacious villainess elevated cat burglary to an art form, stealing whatever may be necessary—and sometimes even more—to survive and protect those closest to her. Utilizing a cat mask and suit to steal from the city’s rich and corrupt, she's a master at hand-to-hand combat and acrobatics, stealthy as a ninja and an expert at breaking and entering.
However, despite her burglarious nature and antagonistic origins, Catwoman walks a fine line between hero and villain. She balances precariously on the precipice of good and evil, of doing the wrong thing for the arguably right reasons. And as such, Selina doesn't look at the world in black and white, but shades of gray. Guided by her own strict—if not slightly skewed—moral compass, Selina sometimes serves as one of the Dark Knight's closest allies. Their flirtatious relationship and complicated feelings for one another constantly push both in directions neither thought possible...or are always comfortable with. Particularly since there always looms the possibility that one day Catwoman will take her crimes too far, and Batman will have no choice but to see her behind bars.

AQUAMAN

Make all the sushi jokes, YouTube spoofs, and SNL sketches you want, Aquaman’s been an icon for over seventy years. The King of the Seven Seas. Reluctant ruler of Atlantis. A man who holds his own against heroes like Superman and Wonder Woman. He’s so recognizable that when officials speak about the perils of sea pollution, they’ll whip out Aquaman references to sound hip.

Cast out from Atlantis as a baby, Arthur Curry grew up on land, thinking himself a normal human. But when he matured, Atlantis returned, claiming him as their rightful king. Caught between a surface world constantly ravaging the sea and Atlanteans looking to lash out in revolt, he’s committed to protecting the entire globe.

Aquaman is the king of all things aqua. He can breathe underwater, swim at tremendous speeds, and telepathically communicate with sea life. Being able to withstand ocean depths, he gets bonus points on land with his superhuman strength, enhanced senses, and nearly impenetrable skin. And although his courage and decisive nature have proven him a true heir to Atlantis’s throne, the continual conflict between land and sea makes him a citizen of both—and at home in neither.

NOW THATS A MOVIE CROWD

AGE OF ULTRON

THE AGE OF ULTRON BY MARVEL COMICS
THIS STORY TAKES PLACE OUTSIDE OF THE NORMAL CONTINUITY OF THE MARVEL UNIVERSE. THE BASIS OF THE STORYLINE IS THAT THE ROBOT THAT HANK PYM (ANT-MAN) INVENTED BECOMES SELF AWARE AND BEGINS HIS HELL BENT GOAL TO WIPE THE WORLD OF THE HUMAN BEINGS, WHETHER SUPER OR NORM.
THE STORY BEGINS AFTER NEW YORK AND CHICAGO ARE WIPED OUT ALONG WITH WASHINGTON DC. THOUSANDS OF ULTRON- LIKE ROBOTS SCOUR THE STREETS KILLING ALL LIVING BEINGS. CLINT BARTON (HAWKEYE) IS THE FIRST HERO TO BE SEEN AND RESCUES A BEATEN AND DRUGGED PETER PARKER (SPIDER MAN) ONLY TO BE LEAD TO A BUNKER UNDER CENTRAL PARK WHERE A SMALL BAND OF HEROES WAITS FOR THE END.  I WONT GO INTO TO MUCH DETAIL ABOUT THE REST CAUSE THERE ARE SOME NICE TWISTS ALONG THE WAY ALONG WITH SOME GREAT ART. THE MASTERMIND WRITER IS NONE OTHER THAN BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS. I HAVE ONLY READ UP TO BOOK 7 OF THE 10 ISSUE STORY ARC, BUT I'M HOOKED. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A ART FAN OF THE BOOKS BUT MORE AND MORE I'M GETTING INTO THE STORY LINES AND WHERE THEY ARE TAKING THE HEROES. SEEING THIS STORY IS OUTSIDE THE NORMAL UNIVERSE ITS NICE TO SEE THE DIFFERENCES IN THE CHARACTERS, WHO IS STILL THE LEADER, WHO IS STILL THE POWER HOUSE, AND SO ON. THERE ARE SOME CHARACTERS I WAS SURPRISED WERE IN THE BOOK. NAMELY MOON KNIGHT, SHE HULK, AND LUKE CAGE. I PERSONALLY DON'T SEE THEM AS BIG NAMES BUT ITS REFRESHING TO SEE SOMETHING DIFFERENT.
WITH ALL THE TWISTS AND AWESOME ARTWORK I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT 3 ISSUES, AND SUGGEST GETTING THEM.
